RWC Short Term Rental Regulations

New Short Term Rental Regulations to go into Effect May 1

The City Council has adopted new regulations for short term rentals in Redwood City. Short term rentals are generally defined as lodging or overnight stays lasting less than 30 consecutive days in a residential dwelling. Short term rentals are most commonly offered and rented through online hosting platforms such as Airbnb, VRBO and HomeAway. Property owners will need to bring their properties into compliance by May 1, 2019. As part of this new policy, Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) will be collected and dedicated to the City's Affordable Housing Fund to fund programs and new units for low income residents.
